There are millions of laptop computers that are being used by people around the world today. In this day and age, technology is advancing at an ever increasing rate. One of the recent advancements in laptop computers is the touch screen laptop. The bigger than life company of Apple revolutionized the way that people like to interact with their personal electronic gadgets with their introduction of the iPhone, iPod touch, and their newest addition to their line, the iPad tablet computer.
Once people got their hands on these touch screen devices, they couldn't get enough of them. Other cell phone manufacturers quickly jumped on the band wagon and started putting out touch screen devices at an alarming rate. People just love to interact with their devices through touch.
It stands to reason that touch screens on laptops would be the next step in the evolution of touch screen technology. HP was the first computer manufacturer to produce a touch screen that functioned the same way that the iPhone does. The HP Touchsmart line of laptop computers were the first to support multi touch functionality. Multi touch allows the user to make use of the two finger gestures that people have become accustomed to on the iPhone like "pinch in to shrink" and "pinch out to zoom" when manipulating photographs.
Since HP broke the ice for touch screens on laptop computers, many other manufacturers have joined the party and are putting out excellent touch screen notebook computers. Some include a simple touch screen that doesn't function very well but others are quite good.
It's a good idea to try before you buy to make sure that the touch screen responds well and is snappy. It's becoming more and more popular to buy computers online but when it comes to a touch screen laptop, you probably want to try it out before you hand over the cash.
The ability to interact with your computer through touch is really still in it's infancy. Sure their are a lot of models with touch screens that are available for consumers to choose from but the technology is still maturing. Remember when computers first stared using the mouse? There were some growing pains then too. Some programs supported the mouse and others didn't. The mouse functions would work one way for one program and an entirely different way for another program. These were frustrating times for all computer users.
Eventually, the way the user interacted with their computers with the mouse became standardized. The same will eventually happen for touch screens on personal computers. That being said, there are some really great laptops with touch screens on the market and if your anything like me, you can't stand waiting around for the manufacturers to get it right. I want the latest toys now and I'll bet that you do too. You might enjoy checking out out this site that has an abundance of touch screen laptop info.
